The Board of Trustees of Rocky View Schools (RVS) is pleased to announce Ryan Reed as the new Superintendent of Schools for the division effective Sept. 1, 2025.
With more than 21 years of experience in education including over a decade with RVS, Reed brings a deep passion for student success and a strong commitment to leadership excellence. His dedication and exceptional leadership capabilities were recognized early on, earning Reed various leadership roles as assistant principal and principal in multiple schools across Alberta and advancing to director within the Education Centre.
“Ryan’s proven ability to foster a culture of communication, integrity and student-centered leadership will be instrumental in advancing the division’s priorities,” said Board Chair, Fiona Gilbert. “As a highly respected leader who always puts students first, we are looking forward to the positive impact he will continue to bring to RVS in this new role.”
Currently, Reed is Director of Schools providing guidance to administrators located in Cochrane, Airdrie and Crossfield and supporting emergent issues at the school and division level. His focus on building strong relationships and effective systems has helped strengthen teams and improve educational outcomes. As RVS navigates growing enrolments, increasing complexities and shifting demands, Reed's strategic leadership will be essential in supporting the Board and RVS’ 3,000 employees to ensure every student learns, belongs and succeeds.
“It is an honour, and I am humbled to have this opportunity to serve as Superintendent of Schools,” said Reed. “I look forward to working with the Board and my colleagues to advance the Board’s Strategic Plan priorities and the goals of RVS’ Education Plan.”
Reed earned a Bachelor of Education/Bachelor of Management from the University of Lethbridge in Lethbridge, a Master of Educational Leadership from the University of Alberta in Edmonton and is currently completing his Chartered Professional Human Resources (CPHR) Certification from the Captus Institute in Toronto. A lifelong learner, he actively pursues professional development opportunities to expand his expertise and strengthen his leadership skills.
RVS administration will work closely with Reed over the next six months to support a smooth transition.
“On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we congratulate Ryan and look forward to working with him to advance RVS’ vision as a world-class learning organization where all students achieve their absolute best,” said Chair Gilbert.
“The Board also extends its sincere gratitude to Greg Luterbach for his exceptional leadership as superintendent over the past nine years and for his 34-year career dedicated to putting students first and making a lasting impact on their lives.”
