RVS Superintendent to Retire at End of School Year

The Board of Trustees of Rocky View Schools (RVS) announced today Superintendent of Schools, Greg Luterbach will retire effective Aug. 31, 2025. 

“The Board is grateful to Superintendent Luterbach for his leadership over the last 8+ years as we transformed and grew into a school division supporting nearly 30,000 students,” said Board Chair Fiona Gilbert. “His visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to student achievement, coupled with high integrity and a caring demeanor, have created a lasting positive impact and contributed greatly to the success of RVS.” 

Since re-joining RVS in 2016, Superintendent Luterbach has led the division’s growing team of over 3,000 staff, maintaining a steadfast focus on providing the best possible learning experience for our students. 

“It has been an honour and privilege to be a part of the RVS team,” said Superintendent Luterbach. “I have had the opportunity to work with exceptionally talented, passionate and dedicated people giving it their all every day to help our students succeed.”

Among many contributions to RVS, Superintendent Luterbach is well-known for inspiring an appreciation for innovation among staff and students to teach and learn in ways that engage minds and passions and prepares students for the future. 

“We applaud the 34 years Greg has invested in students’ futures and we are fortunate he chose RVS as the place to complete his career. As a Board, it has been a privilege to work alongside Greg as we navigated challenges, embraced opportunities, and celebrated successes together while always putting students first,” said Chair Gilbert. “There are no words to effectively express our respect and appreciation for Greg and we wish him all the best in his retirement.” 

Superintendent Luterbach will continue to work closely with his team and the Board ensuring a smooth transition and remains committed to advancing the division’s goals to ensure that everyone learns, belongs and succeeds. More information will be provided when the Board commences the formal recruitment process for a new Superintendent of Schools.
