Register for Bus Transportation Before Aug. 1 to Avoid Service Delays

Posted on

The deadline to register for school bus transportation for the 2024/25 school year is approaching. Families must register for transportation by Aug. 1 to guarantee bus service on the first day of school. Registration received after this deadline may not be processed until after Sept. 18 and will result in families experiencing delays of two to three weeks before they can ride the bus. A step-by-step guide to registration, fee information and more is available on the RVS website.

Student bus services are provided to students who reside within the divisional boundaries of RVS and are enrolled in their designated school. These services are available to Kindergarten – Grade 7 students who reside more than 1.5 kilometres from their designated school, and to Grade 8 – 12 students who reside more than two kilometres from their designated school.

To help families prepare for the new school year, RVS will host My First Ride, its annual in-person event for new bus riders presented by RVS bus contractors, on Aug. 26 and 27 between 6 – 7:30 p.m. at the RVS Education Centre (2651 Chinook Winds Drive SW, Airdrie). Families are welcome to attend the free event to learn more about safely riding the school bus. Bus contractors and school division staff will be on hand to answer any questions. More information about My First Ride will be available later this summer on the RVS website.

Families can also watch RVS' short bus safety video with information on what to expect and how to stay safe when taking the school bus. The video is available on the RVS website and on YouTube
